CLEARANCES FOR VOLUNTEERS and COACHES

The PA Child Protective Services Law changed recently. The change - which went into effect on July 1, 2015 -  requires all coaches and volunteers involved with youth organizations to complete a State Police Criminal Record Check and a PA Child Abuse History Clearance. Individuals who have not resided in PA continuously for the previous 10 years must also complete an FBI Criminal Background Check.

NOTE: PA Governor Tom Wolf waived all fees for volunteers who apply for the PA clearances after July 25, 2015.

Links to all three of the forms can be found on the Teampgh.com website under the "BACKGROUND CHECKS" link (from the main page), and they have been added here for your convenience as well:

Step 1

If you plan to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach this Fall (or in the future), please complete these background checks and send in copies of your results to Jenn Stutz at gstutz1@yahoo.com or turn in to her in person.  Once all of the necessary clearances have been collected, Team Pittsburgh will distribute volunteer credentials, which must be worn by any volunteer who helps out on the dek or on the bench throughout each season. Details about the volunteer credentials will be shared soon.

Clearances will need to be renewed every three years, so those who obtain them now will be covered until the Fall of 2018.

We thank you for your attention to this compliance matter, and for helping us to ensure the safety of our participants.

Thanks,

Team Pittsburgh
